MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING - MAY 3, 2004 6:05 PM
Selectmen Present: Eric R. Munson, JR, Wesley D. Greene II and James Deming
Administration Present: John Panaia, Highway Superintendent
Others: (Public) Robert Bitso
Minutes of previous meeting accepted.
Grant Workshop: Ted Locke will be attending on May 13th - 14th.
Fire Department will be responsible for the housing.
Emergency Management will be responsible for his meals.
Police Department will be responsible for the cost of the course.
Recognized - Bob Bitso
The question was asked, "Did the Selectmen found out anything regarding my neighbor, Michael Lodsin?"(permit given for tenants) The Selectmen answered they are working on it. Bob replied that he is gong to pursue this issue even if he has to seek legal counsel.
Bob mentioned that the minutes from the previous week said that he would be informed of any work being done on Harvey Mountain Road. Bob stated that the town loader was on Harvey Mountain Road earlier today (Monday, May 3rd) and that he was unaware of it. John Panaia told Bob that he made several attempts to contact him.
Bob indicated that he located property pegs on his side of the road only and wanted to know if the town knew where the road lines are?
John Panaia and Bob Bitso had a discussion regarding several issues with Harvey Mountain Road.
John told Bob that the Highway Department would be continuing work on Harvey Mountain Road Tuesday, May 4th and that they would be removing the curbs that were left and working back the banks to try and resolve the water issue.
Bob Bitso and John Panaia will meet Tuesday, May 4th to discuss concerns further.
John Panaia's meeting with Mr. Hagen of Covell Road:
John spent several hours with Mr. Hagen regarding his property. John estimated a cost of $11,000.00 that included 10 days of work. The work will consist of cleaning ditches, laying down rip raff, extending some piping and cutting trees.
Dump Hours: John asked about the hours for the dump. The Selectmen stated that the hours would go to summer hours starting the weekend of May 29th.
Summer Dump hours:
Sunday 3PM - 7PM
Wednesday 5PM - 7PM
Saturday 9AM-11AM
Open Container: An open container (30 yard) will be available for one weekend in June and one in the fall; the date was left for John to determine along with a price list for items. The hiring of additional people was discussed for this weekend.
Fill-in-Staff: The Selectmen will need to appoint Jamie Messenger and Robin Messenger to cover the dump for Jeff when needed.
New Vehicle: John requested that a purchase of a second town vehicle be made to pull the mower. The Selectmen asked that he look into the old police cruiser as an option.
Highway Dept. Hours: The hours of the Highway Department were discussed and left up to the Highway Superintendent to determine.
